Shopping Locally

Do you like to get a bargain, or perhaps you do not have a specialist craft shop near you, just the normal High Street shops. Well, look a little harder and you may be surprised.

POUNDLAND:
This is a shop that has a large turnover of stock, some things are here today and gone tomorrow, but here are a few things I have found: Clip frames, for glass painting; sticky foam; envelopes; gel pens; and not forgetting all those plastic storage boxes to put your things in.

WILKINSONS (similar to Poundland):
Holographic card; gold and silver card; raffia; silk flowers; craft paints; envelopes and also more of those plastic storage boxes to put your things in.

THE WORKS (bookshop):
Pipe cleaners (chenille sticks); Little pegs; paints and inks; gel pens; pom poms; confetti; envelopes; photo albums (to show off your prize cards); and of course craft books.

JOHN LEWIS:
Not necessarily a bargain (but never knowingly undersold!) but you can buy a variety of fabrics and trimmings, and they will normally sell as little as 10cms, and don't forget to check out the furnishing fabrics and trimmings.

TESCO:
Pritt sticks, look out for the time when they have a free little one with it; also envelopes - sometimes they have lovely cream tissue lined ones.

CHARITY SHOPS:
Glasses and other glassware for glass painting; beads and other jewellery (break into bits); wool; unwanted craft kits; all sorts!!

STAPLES/OFFICE WORLD:
I have found that Staples appear to be cheaper than Office World, they sell packs of card; glue; pens; envelopes.

CAKE DECORATING SHOP:
You may have one near you, mine sells things that are suitable for cards, such as horseshoes; football boots; they also stock a variety of ribbons; and if you are into modelling clay they stock modelling tools.

EARLY LEARNING CENTRE:
Edged scissors; craft packs.

A STATIONERY SHOP:
Don't forget that you may just have a stationery shop which could sell all sorts of items such as: card; envelopes; tissue paper; confetti.

HABERDASHERY/WOOL SHOP:
Buttons; trimmings; glue; card blanks; cross stitch.

MARKET STALLS:
Often a haberdashery stall, tool stall, wrapping paper from the cards stall.

I hope that this has whet your appetite, if you can think of some other places post it on the forum and I shall add them to this list.
