Stuck for a few different ideas for making cards, or maybe short of cash, here is a list of things that may inspire you and most of them are for free, be warned it will turn you into a complete hoarder! Check out some other recycling ideas for your crafting here: Household items for crafting

  • Beer/alcopops bottle tops
  • Book club ads - to make mini books
  • Broken jewellery or unmatched single earrings
  • Buttons
  • Coins
  • Corks - cut them in half - champagne ones are an interesting shape
  • Glossy magazine pics
  • Inside of envelopes - iris folding/patterned paper
  • Jigsaw puzzles
  • Newsprint
  • Old books and music sheets
  • Old greetings cards
  • Packaging
  • Paint swatches and wallpaper swatches
  • Playing cards
  • Postage stamps
  • Price tags (the little ones with string attached)
  • Ribbon from packaging
  • Road maps/maps from the back of old diaries
  • Scraps of material and buttons from worn out clothes
  • Sweet wrappers
  • Thick card from board envelopes/notepads for 'chipboard'

  • Tissue paper from gift boxes and bags
  • Tomato puree tubes - wash them out and use the inside for embossing
  • Wine and beer labels
  • Wrapping paper off cuts

Or how about making you own rather than buying:
Learn to use the PC and make your own inserts and backgrounds, consider going on a Word course. Learn to use tables in Word it will help you align the inserts, check out the basics section for guidance.

Buy a trimmer card is much cheaper by the sheet than made into cards. Just match the corners and crease.
