still popular...craft robo

Post by Carolyn » Wed Aug 03, 2011 9:56 am

I notice that there are still a lot of comments on the guest book with regard to the craft robo:

http://craftsbycarolyn.co.uk/guest/popup.php

is everyone still using theirs and learning new things/finding new places to download.

Must admit I have not been making cards for a while for one reason or another and need to make some more as my basket is getting low that I take to the market, so what are you all up to with your Robo or Cricut?

I have been making the odd thing with my cricut. I shall be making more stuff with it soon when my 2 new cartridges arrive. :)

Have you seen there is a new Silhouette machine - Cameo - out. from all accounts it is the same as the Robo/Silhouette but will cut 12". I emailed graphtec to see if they have plans to stock it and if so, how much it will be. I love my Robo lite but I was thinking of upgrading it.

I hardly ever use my cricut - really ought to decide what to do with it and the cartridges

My robo was really behaving itself until my computer had to go to the doctors. I had to reinstall design master and now robo has decided it doesn't want to read registration marks, either from design master or sillouette. I have tried all sorts of tips from the internet but no joy. Shame, I was beginning to like robo again. :(

Have you tried ringing Graphtec in Wrexham? They are very helpful. If you registered with their Crafty Club the imtial 1 year guarantee is extended for another year.

Unfortunately mine is about 5 years old. I did speak to brian at Graphtec about another matter last week. He is extremely helpful. I will give him a ring.

I haven't done much with my robo recently, but must get down to making a few cards using it.

Has anyone used their robo other than for making cards and toppers?

only for scrapbook stuff, and labels - so same sort of thing. Lisa did some glass etching using the cut outs - check the web site, I put the project on there.

I have seen some sites where they seem to do 3D models e.g. like a small baby pram etc ....... don't think I will ever get that good!!

Here is a card I cut recently. With permission I took someones template but changed the style of the filigree in the cross and changed the wording on the front.

I wish I had more time to play (it will come, sooooooon  ).

The cross was easy in that I had someone else's design to modify and I just took out there filgree inner and created my own to go in there. As I do quite a bit of playing in PaintShop Pro it wasn't too difficult to do ........ create a shape, copy it, merge it into one, copy again, rotate, mirror image etc etc. The hardest part was getting the dimensions right for it to be symmetrical inside the outer.
