Copying silhouette library/back up

Post by Carolyn » Sun Nov 24, 2013 3:04 pm

I have just moved my silhouette library from old PC to new and did struggle finding out how to do this.

Once I did find out it was really easy, all of the files are held in a folder

on XP it was here:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio.8

on win 8 it is now here:
C:\ProgramData\com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio.8

Once software is installed you can just overwrite with the entire contents of the folder.

NB all the stuff created within the program is here - so should be backed up from time to time.

If you don't want to do it the hard way then you can buy a specific usb back up pen from Graphtec

Personally I never store any designs in the silhouette library unless they are downloads from silhouette. Anything I get elsewhere, including any files I make myself, I store in its own folder in My documents. This meant that when my old laptop died I was just able to reinstall the Silhouette Studio solftware and then email Silhouette America and they reinstated my library.
