2017 - 1 - Inspiration challenge - Die cutting fabric

Post by Carolyn » Sun Jan 01, 2017 1:13 pm

So I thought I would start with a 'to do' as we all thought we needed to be inspired! I know you must have a die cutter and some dies that will cut fabric, so thought lets dig them out and use them! So I want you to cut some shapes with fabric and then make something :)

I bought these in Florida 2015 and they have not been out of the packet...so yesterday one has finally made it out of the packet..

It would be nice if this was as much a workalong/discussion and ideas thread.

I know that Adele has been playing with felt....

so this is what I have made....I think I am going to sew him onto a bag...but not sure what else to do with it:

There is a very old article here on the website - but the work on there is still great....

So cards, sewing, jewellery - there are lots of uses for them so let's get together and start the inspiration.

Which dies do cut fabric well? I have never had success with Sizzlets

You could make some of your denim bags, lined with a patterned fabric and add a matching one of these as a key ring/bag charm type thingy???

Lovely. xx

How about stringing them together? I was thinking more of a mobile type string of 3 perhaps rather than a bunting type.

I like the idea of a charm, just need to think how I can attach it, maybe just long piece of ribbon.

Not yet. I have had a bit of time in my craft room but only managed to put away some Christmas dies I bought recently and made a couple ofwwedding invites.

OK...I have kind of cheated. Years ago I die cut some flowers from fabric to make brooches. I did make a few but the rest have been in my 'to finish' box. Well today I have finished the last 2. I am so pleased with myself as I really want to get all those projects done and the box empty. I will try and post a picture at the weekend.

cheating is allowed, after all it got you doing something that you had not planned to do :)
