A couple of pieces of scrap

Post by Carolyn » Sun Jan 22, 2017 2:29 pm

I bought 2 pieces of fabric - for 10p each last week, I think they were samples from a book.

one bit was a bit larger so made 2 tiny lavender bags to match!

Love the colour and they are beautiful. Where do you get your lavender from. I used to have some bushes and use that to fill a couple of little sachets but I don't have any plants here. When I lived in Plymouth I bought a big bag from the market but that store has closed down.

I bought it from the internet, and then bought some lavender oil also from internet as it didn't seem to smell much!

I do have lavender in the garden but you are supposed to pick it when it is in bloom so never actually used it.

we have a lavender farm near here, I will have to go over there and buy some if I use it all up http://ampthillcm.blogspot.co.uk/2014/0 ... ender.html

they do look a bit orange in the picture, but they do feel lovely and luxurious, didn;t like working with the fabric though - so glad i didn't have a metre of the stuff!

It looks velvety which can be tricky to sew with. I was given some and used it to make wine bottle covers that I was giving away for Christmas presents. The rest of the fabric was put in the donation bag. However I donated to the school where I worked and they needed 7 velvet dwarf hats which I was tasked to make.

Gorgeous colours, look very luxurious! :clapclap:

Love lavender, we bought a couple of different varieties from a shop on holiday one year. I seem to recall it was North Devon but I might be wrong. They had a wonderful little tea room there where I had my first lavender scones!!! Unfortunately I only have 1 plant left now and that is becoming rather woody too. I was looking at that and my rosemary plant and thinking it is time to make some cuttings.

I think I have been past there on the way to Hartland Quay. Will have to go over there for a cream tea some time.

I see it is run by the 'Heards' this is my family name a few generations back in Hartland, so we must be distant relations!

It says the plants has closed as Nanny Heard is in her 80s...
