Cover a tin
I decided to cover a tin of cashews for a Christmas pressie and
thought it would be nice to show you all
You will need a sheet or 2 of A4 card depending on the size
of your tin
I chose to use card and stamp it - but I am sure it would
work with paper either patterned or stamped. The lid does need to be made from
card or thick paper.
First of all trace around your tin to get the
size of your lid, make it just slightly bigger only 1mm or so.
Then cut around the circle allowing about another 1.5cms.
Then snip little bits like the picture, make it quite a few so
that the lid will still look round.
If you are stamping the lid it is best to do it at this stage
Now bend all of the little bits over, it might
be helpful to score first depending on the type of card you have used.
Cut a 1.5cm strip of card- Don't
worry about it fitting exactly, it can be trimmed after. Then put double sided
sticky tape all along the length of it. This now needs to be stuck to all the
little tabs, I found it easier to start in the middle of the strip. I
overlapped the ends by about 1cm and stuck with glue as the DS tape didn't seem
to hold it. I then popped a peg on until it was dry.
Measure the height of your tin and cut a piece
of card to this height and then make it the right length. It maybe best
to test this on scrap paper if you are not confident.
Decorate your cover
I attached a label, and coloured the sheer
ribbon with the same chalk pad that I used to edge the card.
And this is the finished article
